Pupil Premium & Recovery Premium

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011. Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

The pupil premium grant is designed to allow schools to help these pupils by improving their progress and the exam results they achieve.

Is your child eligible?

Schools are given a pupil premium for:

• Children who have qualified for free school meals at any point in the past six years.

• Children who have been looked after under local authority care for more than one day.

• Students with parents in the armed services are eligible for the Service Premium.

If you think your child qualifies for additional funding, please apply through Solihull Council website: https://www.solihull.gov.uk/Schools-and-learning/Free-school-meals

Catch-Up Provision

The literacy and numeracy catch-up provision gives state-funded schools, including special schools and alternative provision settings, additional funding to support Year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of Key Stage 2 KS2.
