EMOTIONAL HEALTH & MENTAL WELLBEING

EHMW

At Alderbrook, we believe in promoting positive Emotional Health and Mental Wellbeing. Prioritising the wellbeing of students and staff ensures that outstanding teaching and learning can take place, and that the school is a community where everyone feels able to thrive.

ABK VALUES

Our Shared Values of ambition, bravery and kindness are the foundations of our school community. At Alderbrook we want everyone to feel respected, safe and happy. Emotional health and mental wellbeing is an important focus in our school improvement plan. We promote our school values and EHMW across school via posters, displays, behaviour systems, staff planners, student ambassadors and safe spaces.

Here at Alderbrook we also work with external organisations such as SOLAREqualiTeachShineSolihull Youth Council to continue to develop our understanding in the ever growing world of EHMW.

EQUALITEACH – AGENTS FOR CHANGE

This term 29 students from Year 9-11 took part in our AGENTS FOR CHANGE event run by EQUALITEACH. Throughout the day we talked about the impacts of identity-based bullying and students got to discuss what effect bullying has had on their lives and the lives of their peers.
This day was so important to us as a school as students were able to provide us with information on what they think works at school, what we can do better to support them and what new policies they would like to see implemented. We hope that all students who attended, and any who did not, would be excited to join our AGENTS FOR CHANGE bullying support group after Christmas.
