EARLY SAFEGUARDING HELP

UNIVERSAL – support for all

FORM TUTOR

The form tutor is an essential link between school and home, and often the first port of call if a student or parent/carer has a query or concern. Tutors will support students with homework, uniform, equipment and organisation, as well as providing emotional support if they feel worried or overwhelmed.

PSHE

Our PSHE curriculum is focused around three core themes: Health & Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. We want our students to be happy, healthy and well-rounded – our PSHE lessons support them on this journey and are taught by a well-supported team of teachers once per fortnight.

WORKING WITH FAMILIES

We value the input and feedback of all parents and carers. It is vital that all parents and carers feel empowered to have their say and work with ABK to build strong relationships for the students. There is regular communication between home and school for all families with extra contact when it is needed and appropriate.

TIER 1 – additional support

Support that can be accessed via internal practitioners within school by internal referrals.

SCHOOL NURSE

Solihull School Nursing Service provides a named school nurse to support students at ABK. The School Nurse helps students to take responsibility for their own health and encourages them to take steps to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

SEND

Our SEND team’s objective is to support and equip students with additional needs to fulfil their academic and personal potential, ensuring they are given equal opportunities, enabling and encouraging them to feel valued members of the ABK community.

PASTORAL TEAM

Each year group at Alderbrook has a Head of Year and a Pastoral Manager. They maintain an overview of the students that are in their year group. They also work alongside Heads of Curriculum and our SEND team to ensure that no student ‘slips through the net’.

EHMW TEAM

Emotional Health and Mental Wellbeing is an important focus in our school improvement plan. The EHMW team at Alderbrook has been established to provide a listening ear and a means of signposting students and staff to helpful resources and care professionals.
