ARCHER CLIVE, Alderbrook’s newest building

Thank you to the students, staff and parents that responded to the survey that asked for your vote on the name that you felt would be best for Alderbrook’s new building.

The shortlist of names was chosen by Solihull’s Local History Circle who meet on the third Monday of each month at Solihull Methodist Church Hall at 7.30pm (Contact Laurence Ince on 0121 706 0204 for more info).

Over one thousand responses were received and the results of the survey were passed to the governors for some reflection and a final decision.

The name chosen is … ARCHER CLIVE.

Archer was Rector of Solihull 1829-1847. He did much for the locality whilst he held office. With his own money he built Shirley Church in 1831 and Shirley School in 1836, as well as a new Rectory for Solihull in 1833. He died in 1878 aged 78.
