A Level Exam Results 2018

This year’s A Level students, our second cohort since the Sixth Form opened in 2015, have performed exceptionally well in their summer examinations. Their impressive results prove they have aimed high and exceeded expectations across a breadth of subjects, whatever their interests and talents may be. With an A*-E pass rate of 99.4%, the students have surpassed the 2018 national average and our own high 2017 benchmark of 98.8%! Remarkably over a quarter of all grades achieved were those highly-coveted A*-As, again exceeding the national average, which illustrates the hard work of both students and staff. With nearly 75% of all grades awarded at grade C and above and half of all grades at A*-B, we are delighted with the achievements of every individual student.

The majority of our students look forward to University life. We also have a small collection of students taking up prestigious Degree Apprenticeships with companies like BMW, Higher Apprenticeships and Employment. Those heading to University will be attending institutions across the UK and abroad, with a significant number achieving places at ‘Russell Group’ institutions including: Birmingham, Nottingham, Sheffield, Warwick and York. Reflecting the diverse range of talents and interests which makes this year group so distinctive, students will embark upon the study of a wide range of courses,  ranging from Architecture to Mathematics; Law to Pharmacy; Drama to Computer Science. We wish them all great success.

Honourable mentions must go to Catherine Pointon with A* A* A*, Will McGuinness and Adam Partridge with A* A* A, Jessica Tolan with A* A* A B and Ehsan Khalid and Sufyan Khan with A A A (pictured above). Catherine, who celebrates her 18th birthday today, comments “I’m completely over the moon with my results of 3 A* grades in Art, Further Maths and Maths, proving that all that hard work finally paid off in the end!” Catherine achieved an incredible 592/600 in Maths overall and 194/200 in Art; she now looks forward to studying Architecture and Environmental Design at the University of Nottingham.

Alongside all the celebrations with the class of 2018, we must not forget the excellent achievements of those students who also collected AS results for the highly regarded Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). A superb 89% of entries achieved either A or B grades!

Congratulations again to all our Sixth Form students. We are very proud of you all!
