Congratulations to our A Level students; we are immensely proud with the excellent achievements of all our students in our largest cohort to date! Their results prove they have aimed high and exceeded expectations across a breadth of subjects, whatever their interests and talents may be. With an A*-E pass rate of 98%, our students have surpassed the 2019 national average. With over 70% of all grades awarded at grade C and above, and so many subjects performing significantly higher than national average at A*-B, we are delighted with the achievements of every individual student who now leave us to move on to a range of exciting destinations.
Those heading to University will be attending institutions across the UK and abroad, with a large number achieving places at ‘Russell Group’ institutions including: Birmingham, Cardiff, Leeds, Nottingham, Southampton, Warwick and York. Congratulations to James Gordon who will be reading Geography at St Catherine’s College, Oxford. Rosie Weaver also leaves us to take up life in the USA having gained a soccer scholarship to study at Quinnipiac University, Connecticut! Reflecting the diverse range of talents and interests which makes this year group so distinctive, students will embark upon the study of a wide range of courses, ranging from Medicine to Politics; Economics to Graphic Design; Engineering to Law. We wish them all great success.

Honourable mentions must go to Matt Mellor and Jennifer Togneri with A* A* A A, Beth Gibbs, Dylan Marriott and Evie Middlemiss with A* A A and Connor O’Brien with A A A. Director of Sixth Form, Mrs Anna Allen expressed her delight: “This year’s results confirm that whether you are aiming for the best universities or prestigious industry placements, students at Alderbrook Sixth Form flourish and succeed. Entry in September 2019 is heavily oversubscribed and this is testament to the outstanding reputation that our staff and students have established. Thanks go to our parents for their constant support and encouragement. Many congratulations to them all.”
Alongside all the celebrations with the class of 2019, Year 12 students also collected AS results for Core Maths and the increasingly popular Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). An outstanding 65% of all grades were A*-A with 90% A*-B. Special mention to Year 12 Owen Grieg who achieved an A* in Maths A level this summer. An exceptional achievement completed with one year of study; Owen will now continue to study his 4 remaining A Levels.
